Ah, the hair of the dog. It’s that magical Bloody Mary from the Old Post that dulls the pain of those closing-time shots from Charlie B’s the night before.

This year, the MES is proud to have its own version of the Bloody Mary and another classic Montana enduro race as a part of the Montana Enduro Series: Missoula XC’s world-famous the Hair of the Dog Enduro! It is happening the morning after the UCI World Series Missoula XC race at Marshall Mountain. The Hair of the Dog will be our magical way of dulling the pain of those hard miles of XC racing the day before.

Hair of the Dog Enduro Timeline:
7:00 – Racer check-in begins at Peak Fitness, 5000 Blue Mountain Rd.
8:00 – Racer check in closes.  You must check in before 8:30!
8:45 – First shuttle racer meeting
9:00 – First shuttle departs
10:45 – Second shuttle racer meeting
11:00 – Second shuttle departs

Stage 1 – Deadman’s Ridge – Buckle your helmet and hold on tight for the longest, loosest, and gnarliest segment on the Hair of the Dog Enduro course. Deadman’s is a 2,000 foot descent full of sweet, chundery rock, roots, and bermed corners. If you make it to the bottom with all of your teeth you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.

Stage 2 – Deadman’s Gulch – The lower section of Deadman’s is a little more intimate. It’s chock full of tight switchbacks and rock drops, and being nestled down by the creek is a little bit less dusty than up on the ridge.

Stage 3 – Hayes Saddle – The icing on the cake. The cherry on top. The Hayes descent. They all mean the same thing. Hayes is fast, flowy, and fun. The race probably won’t be won on this segment, but if you take the time to air off of every hip and rock along they way, you’ll spend more time in the air than on the ground. just might lose it here. We wouldn’t blame you.
